This place was awesome. Waitress was nice and checked on us often, the food was amazing, and the food was also very affordable. We ordered the 10 ounce NY steak and it came with 2 sides and considering the price we figured they would be small portions. We were wrong, they give you a lot of food for your money. The fried pickles were on special and delicious too. Wish I lived here, I'd come here all the time.

Visiting from Wisconsin, read mix reviews but seen enough positive to give it a try. Big mistake, my entire crew got sick from the food. I order fish tacos, bland no flavor mushy gobs of slimy fish on a stale corn taco, even the black beans lacked any flavor. Chicken biscuit, one huge way too big of portion. Decent tasting but still got sick within hours. Bleu monkey ship was on exception, spicy and delicious. Stay clear if unless you want to get sick and over charged for fancy plating with no taste.

We love this place! They everything you could possibly want on the menu... From healthy to fried.... It all tastes great and they pay special attention to your specifications and details when ordering.. The presentation is wonderful and customer service with a smile! Is always on the menu here! Bring your family and friends... You will be glad you did!

Well, well and WELL. White wine is not that hard of an item to sale; but, when I asked for the middle class, the bartender says house wine???!! This was after she passed me up and not to mention the bar was nasty; just like the floor I walked in on, dirty!! Why should I beg for food??? Oh wait I'm not a regular like Mike and the other dude next to him. BUT once you give your name bartender, monkey girl is somewhat nicer. Not my hot spot; more for out-of-towners. Not for the locals in the winter time :( I'm guessing!!

Wow it's been a while since I've been in and the quality for my group of 4 today was well below all of our expectations, seems quality has changed since 2013 - Again I had sirloin steak, medium, loaded mashed potatoes, and sweet corn . They bring a nice bread with olive oil dipping sauce which was very nice in the even brought a second loaf of bread and that was the best part of my meals we wer a party of 4 and I'm sorry to say we were all disappointed in our meal hubby had the exact same meal he had in 2013 the only difference is that he got a ribeye, medium rare and I had the sirloin steak last time 5 stars this time 2. And my sister ordered shrimp bisque and a Cuban sandwich which the menu described a yummy sandwich which she was not she was served. I tried it was was not happy either it was on a pita bread which seems very odd from the other ways I've ever had a Cuban sandwich, with onion rings that were good. The chocolate cake tasted like it was a frozen cake and small really a small piece, ugh, come on if your gonna eat a chocolate cake it needs to be a big piece to go along with the guit ....I'm just saying. Sweet tea tonight was not good and not sweet. 4 I'd us though it tasted off and not sweet... So since they have a bar I asked for some simple syrup they don't have any simple syrup? seriously? how can they make cocktails without a simple syrup. I'm no bartender but come on hot water and sugar then you got simple suryp, that issue was probably a half a star right there! I won't be going back anytime soon I hope if you decide to go there you have a much better experience than I but I will say the decor is really nice and the place was hopping tonight .. Happy Eating!

Sauces need more flavor but the wings were amazing. We ordered shrimp with angel hair pasta, bleu monkey shrimp, and hot wings. Definitely want to come back and try to ice cream that I have heard so much about.

One of my favorite restaurants in Hot Springs. Visited on a Saturday, the place was packed, but still got prompt service. The food came out super quick and the drinks were very good. Highly recommend the shrimp!

  • Samantha P.

Everything was spectacular. The service was prompt and friendly. The menu is HUGE so there is something for even the picky eater. I usually get the crab cakes, the bleu monkey shrimp, oh and the monkey Rita- seriously best margarita you will ever drink. The bread with Olive oil and herbs that they give you is also wonderful. If you are in Hot Springs definitely give this place a try!

My husband absolutely loves this place. The Caribbean flair is inviting and really feels like a vacation spot. Every dish we have ordered was very good, well prepared and nicely plated.

Pricey for a sports bar with a roadside stand atmosphere. Noisy playing local radio station with advertisements and 80's popmusic. Need to cut the prices or improve atmosphere. Food was ok.

While contemplating where to go for dinner I decided on this place next to my hotel. The ratings were decent and Yelpers usually don't let me down. I arrived just before the eveinf rush. The menu is rather extensive but I opted for the 12 Oz. NY Strip, Asparagus, Mashed Potatoes and Caesar Salad. A loaf of delicious bread arrived along with a plate of olive oil and herbs. This bread was nearly perfect. The olive oil was also a nice accompaniment. My Caesar Salad arrived and it was quite large. It had an overwhelming fishy smell. Not the kind when they use just a little too much anchovy paste. Like they washed it in the sink with thawing fish. I didn't eat it. The waitress noticed and asked about it but seemed unconcerned. I was one of three tables in the place and I expected her. To at least remove the salad from my bill. She didn't. The steak was cooked perfectly and was very tender. The Asparagus was, we'll, Asparagus. No special seasoning, a little undercooked but edible. The Mashed potatoes were good as well. If I return I'll try something a bit more exciting though. Several seafood options on the menu I'd like to try.

I have eaten here several times. Today was a little disappointing. I asked for my steak to be medium. It came out well well done. :( The buffalo bites were amazing as usual. Quick service. Rachel was spot on. Great atmosphere. Clean place.

Cooking at home would be better than wasting my time eating here in the future. While the staff were courteous, the food was forgettable while you were eating it. The lettuce wrap starter was a bore, the chicken was said to be spicy and it had no taste at all. Both sandwiches we ordered were just as exciting...note the sarcasm. I won't be going again, as I would rather either try a new restaurant in town or grill up my own burgers with some flavor in them!

  • Shelley S.

My husband and I tried the fried avocado and the Mac and cheese balls....oh my goodness, both were amazing!!! We will be back!

We ordered the highly rated 'Bleu Monkey Rita'..,supposedly made with Patron silver, fresh squeezed lime and orange juice "no mixes" (or so they advertise) - imagine our surprise when a very large bright BLUE drink was placed in front of us!! Not ONE ingredient listed on their menu would create that color. So we asked and we were assured it was the Bleu Monkey Rita by the bartendar with an attitude, and then she said they add Blue Curacoa (anyone with taste buds knows that Blue Curacoa and Patron should NEVER be mixed in the same glass...EVER!) The only thing we could taste was the blue juice and at a price point of over $10, no thank you!! Obviously we sent them back, but only after they tried to pass off a member of the kitchen staff as the manager who ignorantly told us the Ritas were pre-mixed each morning with Durango Tequila...wait what? menu says Patron...and you can't pre-mix all that 'fresh juice' in the morning and expect it to taste good at 6 pm! Do not waste your time or money here. The drink scam didn't work on us fortunately, however unfortunately, we ended up eating what they tried to pass off as mexican/Tex-Mex appetizers only out of sheer starvation. Actually, I think starving would have been a better option.

We were in town for the Christmas holidays and decided we HAD to dine at Bleu Monkey. My wife and moth-in-law were with me. They decided to share a burger. They both said that Bleu Monkey prepares some of the best burgers in Hot Springs. Trust me they're massive and both had plenty to eat and left the restaurant with happy tummies. Today I ordered the crab cakes on the appetizer section of the menu. The three crab cake were incredible. They were lightly crispy on the outside and had a great consistency on the inside. Blue Monkey's version of crab cakes were nice a spicy, just like I liked them, I could have eaten another order of them but I resisted. Blue Money Grill continues to be one of my favorite restaurants when we're visiting the Hot Springs area. Yumminess all around!

  • Melissa P.

gross...food and drinks were bad, do not waste your time or money. You are better off at Chili's and getting an El Presidente Margarita and tacos - will be more Tex-Mex than this place. As for the menu...how can you serve seafood, Chinese-ish food, Mexican-ish, food, burgers, steaks, etc. and excel at all or any for that matter. Pick one type of cuisine and focus on making that good...or at least edible. (now watch carefully as just after I post this a wonderful review, singing the praises of this place and it's staff with professional-like photos of food and glowing accolades will magically appear right after me....seriously, it's a pattern - bad review posted, then a glorious review follows immediately. coincidence...I think not.)

We came in with a group of 6 at 7pm. The restaurant was just down the street from our hotel so we figured why not give it a try. Upon walking in we told the hostess how many and she just stared at me. She pointed at two tiny bar top tables and said we can push those together. No thank you. I told her we were happy to wait for a table. We went to the bar to grab a drink. Drinks are pretty cheap here. $4.95 for a glass of wine or $8.95 for a margarita. I'm assuming it's not the best quality wine and liquor for that price. Once we sat down we noticed the interesting characters sitting around us. This is definitely a great place to go and people watch! There was even a woman who walked around trying to sell customers roses. I felt like we were in San Antonio minus the music and Mexican food! I ordered the napa chicken which was not the best choice one I tried it. The wine sauce was way too sweet. They might as well have poured syrup all over it instead. It was coated with cheese and my asparagus wasn't cooked well. It was still pretty raw. Our table ordered the Mac and cheese balls which were a fail. They were just boring. The macaroni inside wasn't cooked thoroughly. It had a chewy texture that wasn't appetizing. The avocado egg rolls were ok. Again nothing thrilling. The menu is a crazy mix of things. Mexican, asian, southern and even an attempt at sushi. They really should focus on one food type and stick with that! Our waitress nice but we saw her only two times. Once to take our order and once to bring our check. Someone else brought our food and we had to ask another waiter to bring us more water. Overall it was an ok place but I would have rather gone to the chilis down the road instead.

Food and drinks were very good. Highly recommend a side order of plantains. Only complaint is that I think they had a few people call out or short staffed. Other than that, awesome place to stop by for food.

  • David H.

The food was ok and the waiter was grumpy and he acted like it was such a chore to wait on us.

Wow. The food network station needs to check this out. Just started with appetizers. Avocado rolls. Sensational!!!! I'm visiting from California wow. unbelievably good

Best wings I have eat in Hot Springs for sure. That (appetizer) could be a meal. The special that day was fried pickles and there as good an any other place i have ate them. The Cuban sandwich was pretty good as well. The wait staff was very friendly, and we were never in need of anything. I am definitely going back hear. My only regret is not going here sooner.

The Bleu Monkey consistently churns out delicious food. I don't know how they can do it, because the menu is so vast and varied. The service is always professional and friendly. They also have trivia (Buzztime) and sports is always playing in the bar. The TVs are not ubiquitous, though and they usually have decent, inoffensive pop music playing (by inoffensive, I mean not too terribly cheesy). We go almost every time we're in town, which is often! I want to recommend a good dish, but I don't know what to pick! Oh, they also serve awesome bread and olive oil/pesto when you arrive!

  • Jan M.

Did not have a good experience. Came in at 10 and but made to feel like we were intruding because they were about to close at 11. The waitress was not very friendly and the drinks were not very good. Will not be back. Skip it.

Bleu Monkey has something for everyone! My favorite is the buffalo bites, buffalo chicken sandwich, and Monkey-Rita!! Highly recommended!!!

We got takeout food here for our first night in Hot Springs. My wife got the Kobe Burger. She said it was very dry. The mushrooms and onions didn't do much for the burger. The burger itself was decent, not what was expected. But she added some mayo and it helped with the dryness. We shared the avocado rolls and those were as advertised, quite good! I had the Bon Bon Chicken and Shrimp, since I saw a lot of positive reviews. I was pretty impressed. Overall it was a good last minute decision to eat here.

We stopped here for lunch on our way out of Hot Springs, and what a great decision that was! My two companions said their meals were great but I'm only speaking for mine right now - the Maui salad was absolutely outstanding. I wish I had thought to snap a photo before I started eating! Mixed greens, mango, yellow pepper, and an incredible dressing combined to give the best salad I've had in ages. It came with three pita-type chips that were drizzled with something sticky and sweet (honey-based, perhaps) and I could've eaten a plateful of those! We also received a little loaf of bread with a pesto sauce that was delicious. I had such a great meal that I had to buy a tee-shirt to commemorate it!

This was a pretty good place for diner. Not a chain. Good broad menu with pasta, steaks, burgers, and lots of appetizers. Something for everyone in our group. Nice atmosphere, quite casual. We really enjoyed it. The food was quite good.

I rarely give a restaurant five stars, but... The food and service was phenomenal! My mother and I had the beer battered shrimp; she ordered the lunch and I had the dinner. The portions were huge! I would have been full had I ordered the lunch and I have a very healthy appetite. My wife had the Napa chicken with mashed potatoes - it too was amazing! The chicken was marinated, juicy, and very tender; again the portion size was large. I will order that next time - there will definitely be a next time! We also had the bread for an appetizer, which was an odd appetizer for a sports bar, but still very good. Our waitress was excellent too. She was very attentive and friendly - one of the few servers that knows to put salt on the napkins before putting the drinks on them. The place is so good that my wife and I will be going back this weekend. It's so good that even if our server isn't good, the food would still be worth it!

My family ate here for a late lunch. We had seen the menu at Scoops Ice Cream shop and it enticed us to go check it out the next day. I had the Spicy Shrimp tacos and they were delicious. Not overly spicy just flavorful. On the side was sour cream and guacamole. Also served were black beans and rice. I wouldn't change anything. It was excellent. My husband had the chicken, avocado, bacon club. He was pleased but felt the bacon was overlooked. My son and daughter-in-law shared the fettuccine. Our waiter was happy to bring a second round of the bread with olive oil after we devoured the first round. Waiter was very friendly and quick to answer any questions. Atmosphere was cheery and fun especially with the addition of Christmas decorations. Would definitely go back to on next visit to Hot Springs.

Great atmosphere, service and food. I had the lunch portion Mediterranean salad and it was huge to me. I loved that the lettuce was shredded as that made a better presentation as well as easier to eat since I didn't have to cut it into bite size pieces. My server was attentive and professional. I will recommend the Bleu Monkey Grill and visit again when I get a chance to.

  • Larry G.

Excellent! Very original menu, with selections to entice any taste. I tried the Chicken and Biscuits - an interesting and very effective twist on the chicken pot pie. My wife had the Cobb Salad and said it was marvelous! The portions were very generous. I had the lunch portion and still had to ask for a to-go box. The place was clean, interestingly decorated and very inviting. The bread and olive oil made an appetizer unnecessary but the selections sounded good. Next time, and there will be a next time, we will have to have appetizers and dessert.

Staff was pleasant, food - what I ordered dismal at best. The fish and chips supposedly tilapia tasted earthy like a bottom feeder. Beer was cold.

Hot Springs is alleged to have some cool places, but shame on me, I didn't do any pre-trip Yelping. So I ended up choosing the best looking thing I could as we drove out to find lunch. Getting here from the convention center took us through some shady looking neighborhoods, and I was starting to worry I had chosen wrong. But never fear! Bleu Monkey is further away and in a nice, homogenized area of town filled with Chili's and Outback Steakhouses. When we pulled up, I still wasn't convinced. It looked kind of stupid which is the best word I can think of while acknowledging that it's probably entirely unhelpful. We persevered and went in, and I'm damn glad we did. They have a crazy menu serving items that are leaps and bounds above your standard bar food. I had a huge, incredibly delicious eggplant sandwich. I swore I wouldn't eat the onion rings and fries that came with, but they were delectable and irresistible. They also have gigantic 32 oz. of Guinness. Nice. It was a little loud in the bar area, with football playing at full blast, but I got over it. They have electronic bar trivia which is always a plus for me. It was so good, I seriously contemplated going back despite the fact that I was only spending 36 hours in this town. Yum.

My family was on vacation here and hungry. The Bleu Monkey was outstanding!!!! I had the ribs and it was the best. Everything we ordered was praiseworthy. The chef cooked it all to perfection. The service was 5 star excellent and went the extra mile. Greatest meal we had. Can't wait to try them again.

  • Stephanie W.

The decor is a typical sports bar, with standard servers. Food was fast but not stellar. Avocado rolls were interesting interpretation of egg roll but gave a strange powdered sugar aftertaste. The Cobb Salad was a disaster and had me lamenting for a Farmer Brothers. The dressing was bitter, jerky like chicken, and strange shredded boiled eggs. Mediocre to me.

Based on past reviews, put this at the top of the list! It was good food - two had the sirloin, one Turkey burger, and one panko crusted tuna filet. Sirloin was deemed fantastic- one did come out medium well after both requested med rare so that knocked down this review a bit. Turkey burger was delicious and huge...almost too much to eat! Finally the tuna was decent...they did get the "rare" down but honestly it lacked a little in flavor. But grateful not too salty or overwhelming. I'll take it! Good service and QUICK! good option for variety, taste, and service.

My husband and I ate here at the recommendation of many people at the B&B we were staying at. We might have ordered the wrong items here, because we really didn't enjoy the food. My husband had the szechuan beef and I had a shrimp po boy. The items came out almost immediately after we ordered them, which made me feel like they had probably just been reheated. Both entrees were flavorless. I felt like the extensive menu leaned more toward quantity than quality. One positive thing I can say is that the bread (free appetizer) with pesto for dipping was delicious. However, I still wouldn't recommend this place.

The following is my experience at Bleu Monkey. My party of 18 arrived at 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon. We had intended to call ahead, but through a mix of miscommunications, that didn't happen. Fortunately, the restaurant was mostly empty. We told the hostess that there were 18 in our party and one huff and an eye roll later, she wrote down "18 people" and then went and talked to her manager. That was the end of our communication, she never once came back and gave us a time, told us they were working on it, nothing. About 25 minutes after we came in, one person in the party asked what the ETA on a table was. The hostess pointed at the one large party that was there and said we'd have to wait for them to leave. Most of that party didn't even have their food yet. So we waited. And waited. And waited some more. And then we were split into 5 booths. So much for hoping to have an enjoyable group lunch. This is where things went from bad to worse. We were assigned one waitress, who was clearly having a bad day or was not amused by the decision to give all of us to her. It's not like we said "there are 18 of us and we want only one server" so why she took her displeasure out on us. There was no greeting, no "my name is and I'll be taking care of you" just "what are you drinking?" HUFF. "what would you like to order?" HUFF. "refill?" It was rather uncomfortable, the food was gross (I had the nachos and the chips were approximately 3 years old) and the service was SO BAD I would never return or recommend.

Based on proximity to my hotel and "Yelp!" reviews, I decided to give Bleu Monkey a try tonight. Final verdict: the food is pretty good (had the Razorback burger...good choice!), and there are multiple TVs in the bar. However, the largest TV was on some Spanish language soap opera w/out sound, and the bartender apparently needed 8 arms and two brains, with all of the requests and drink orders she had. I waited over ten minutes for my black & tan after giving the order, and then another 15 before being asked if I wanted to eat. I had to repeat myself multiple times...I don't blame her, though. It seemed to be a busy night for a Tues., and she was the only one behind the bar. I also thought the draft selection was pretty sparse for a resort/vacation town. Are there no local or state breweries in ARK to offer? Overall, no more than slightly above average. Food was decent, but the service was mediocre. When I walked in, there were no hosts in the front, and when I left, one if the hostesses came back inside but did not even offer to hold the door for me.

I just had the take out and it was very bad! The hot wings were of poor quality. The bleu burger was tasteless. There was bacon on this burger and it was rock hard. I thought I broke a tooth when chewing it. I had to spit it out. The toss salad was done in a rush. The iceberg lettuce was not cut into small pieces for consumption. There were croutons that were scattered on the top. Many of them were old evidenced by big chunks that stuck together. There were no veggies in this salad; just iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, one cucumber slice, cheese, and old croutons. ~~~~~~~~~~ The hot wings and burger were definitely pre-packaged and frozen!

  • Suzanne D.

We tried this restaurant based on reviews and weren't very impressed. The burger tasted frozen, tacos were good but nothing amazing. The kids had the four cheese pasta and liked it. It was clean and the service was good though.

    (2)
  • Too S.

Husband enjoyed the cabo tacos and my daughters liked the four cheese pasta with chicken and the grilled cheese sandwich but the other four of us did not enjoy anything other than the fact that we were served in less than 10 mins. Never again for me.

  • Corey V.

Outstanding food. I was in town on business and I came here three times. Prices are fair, stocked bar, big menu! So much to choose from. The only negatives was the bartenders aren't too talkative and the food is not timed great. My bread, salad, and entree all came out at the same time. All around great food and experience.

  • David D.

Nice place with a varied menu. I actually had a sub par meal but the other three in the party had a very good meal. My fish was way overdone and greasy. Two of us had a pasta dish which was very good, and the other had the ribs which were ok. If I go back I would definately try the sandwiches or burgers. They looked awesome. Big drawback for me was that they serve Pepsi Products.

  • Andrya S.

This was one of the strangest menu compilations I have seen. There are items from American to Asian to Mexican... Everything from the menu to the interior design just seemed like the owner was extremely indecisive. Nothing was bad really, but I also wouldn't say it was good. Just below average. The service was also not horrid, but not good. I wouldn't bother coming back, and unless you are a local tired of the small amount of choices in Hot Springs, I don't think there would be any reason to come here.

Great little place the pasta was great but the razorback burger little one the let down side. The money Rita OMG it was so big three people could drink off it but so so good.

Three vegetarians and a meat-eater were all very happy. Bon Bon Chicken, vegetarian nachos and avocado rolls were highlights. Best place we've eaten in Hot Springs. Highly recommended.

Not quite sure what to make of this place. From the outside, it seemed to be more upscale. The inside was a neon wonderland. Gordon Ramsay might have some suggestions about the decor and menu options. The waiter wasn't very enthused about certain dishes, which made me worried. So after he shot down a couple of choices, I went with the Cuban sandwhich. It was soggy and in unattractive to look at, and was ok. The onion rings however, were the true star of the night. Crispy and hot, they hit the spot. We passed on dessert and decided to call it a night.

  • Jane M.

California Tacos were nearly as good as those in California! Menu has extensive selections, including Portabella Burger and an Eggplant Burger. Onion rings are real onions! Service is excellent.

We stayed at the hotel next door so we were able to walk to the Bleu Monkey two nights for dinner. The food was good--the avocado egg rolls are absolutely delicious! Problem was the drinks. My husband ordered a Bellini the first night. Waitress/Bartender said they make them different, they don't use champagne. ??? But he thought he'd go ahead and try it. Way too much ice--which wasn't blended long enough. When he finished the drink, there was almost two inches of crushed, blended ICE in the bottom, and hardly any alcohol in the drink at all. Next night, food again was very tasty. I ordered a piña colada and hubby got a Bellini again (I know, I know). Same problem--not blended into a creamy drink. If there was rum in that piña, it was maybe a thimbleful. And they are in big glasses! We each had two drinks and did not even get a buzz. I mean seriously, for $7.25 a drink--$29 for just the drinks, there should be some danged alcohol in that puppy!!! If we ever eat there again, you can rest assured we won't be partaking of any bar drinks. It will be water for us. When I pay that much for a drink and it's that big, I should be able to taste the liquor that I'm paying for. Service was good. Our servers came by frequently. We sat at a bar-top table.

3.7 stars. Food was good, service was alright. bread and pesto oil dip: I understand that these are fresh baked from the other reviews, but I don't see what the big deal is here. just didn't do it for me. fried macaroni: Fried, cheese, and carbs...so many wrongs can only make a right. Obviously not on the light side. avocado rolls: savory shell with creamy avocado filling. Add that to the delicious sauce, and you've got a winner. Bleu Monkey Nacho: Luv'd it. Not too overly cheesed. tamale: decent, reminiscent of the tamales I'd get at my fave el Salvadorean restaurant. bon bon chicken: like a thai curry type of dish. Can get with rice or noodles. I thought that the chicken was a touch dry, but the sumptuous shrimp (alliteration, like it?) was spot on. The last two items remind me that this restaurant really is a bit eclectic, taking inspirations from a lot of different cultures. Does it work? I guess. Service was average. Waitress was checked up on us frequently, water was always refilled. She did forget to tell us the special. Overall, a nice dinner.

The Bleu Monkey Grill was recommended by a local and it did not disappoint. With a wide variety of food, everyone will be able to find something they will like. The bleuritas were a hit with the ladies. Thumbs up!

Good for one of those places you can get anything. Not awesome, but good indeed, and the beer was pretty good prices, pitcher of Fat Tire for $9.95 Kobe burger was good, but tasted like regular meat lol. Fish and chips were ok, shrimp too. Great option if you're staying at one of the hotels that's close by.

So I usually try a place several times before I leave a review with anything negative. Anyone can have a bad night and I take that into account. Though let me start by saying that I didn't have a particualrly bad night, any time I have been there. With that being said, I have eaten here four times, most recently yesterday. So let me start with the negatives. The menu seems to be too broad, preventing them from focusing on dishes and really making them shine, which means a lot of dishes are just mediocre. For instance, one time I got the BBQ ribs. Very disappointed. They were clearly baked in an oven and not smoked. If you are selling ribs they better be smoked. They were relatively devoid of flavor and mushy. Yesterday I got the chicken tacos. Let me start with the rice. When the waitress set down the plate I thought she had BO until I realized it was the overload of cumin in the rice. The entire meal was marred by the impression that a dirty hippy had joined us in the booth. The chicken was overcooked and not really very good. Now onto the positives. The bread and oil with basil is delicious. Also I have had the bang bang shrimp dish twice. It is very good and I would recommend it. I have learned not to branch out and I will stick with this when I go back as I do really think they do a fine job with this one. You may wonder why I would go back. Well my wife really likes it because she can't eat salt and they will cook to order. So, where the wife goes, I will follow.

Chose the monkey based on the location and colorful name. Of course we order the giant blue monkey rita. It was tasted great and was plenty, even to share. The Mac and cheese balls were were wonderful. Also had the buffalo bites, they were just ok. The menu was a odd combination of Mexican and Asian, but in a good way. Overall my experience was positive. Don't know if it has enough draw to bring me back. Probably would rather try somewhere else I've never been.

Food was not bad... Service was decent... Steak did have nice flavor... Mash potatoes. Were just warm... Could have been better... The monkeyritta was huge... Pretty good

Sorry to see the negative reviews - We went in for a late lunch. The place had plenty of folks there at 2:30pm so I guess I am not the only one thinking the bad reviews are an anomaly. Our waiter was nice and accommodating, offering explanations of the dishes and opinions. I had a speciality burger and my wife had a specialty salad - Both were great, the salad was fresh and the dressing seemed homemade and original. My parents split a regular cheeseburger and enjoyed it. The portions were large (almost to large) and everything seemed fresh. I would recommend and will probably eat here again on my next trip to Hot Springs. One more thing - They have fried macNcheese balls as appetizer, I missed them so if you tried them let us know if they are worth a shot... they looked hummy!

Decent. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't anything to rave about either. Buffalo Bites: chicken and cheese stuffed in a wonton wrapper, deep fried, and served with buffalo sauce. Meh. It wasn't something that I wanted to grab a second bite of. The hubby liked it though. Shrimp Tacos: this was my meal and it was served with black beans, rice, sour cream, guac. I have mixed feelings about the taco. The shrimp tasted like frozen battered shrimp...blegh. The salsa on it was so good though. It was a mango salsa with chile. The beans were good but the rice was awful. It was some type of flavored rice, I'm guessing cilantro and lime. It was somewhat crunchy. Baby Back Ribs: the hubby had this and he loved it. I did taste it and it was good. Meat was tender and they didn't drown the meat in BBQ sauce. Blue Monkey-tini: hypnotiq, malibu, pineapple juice. Pretty good drink, if you like sweet cocktails. Bread/Oil: this bread was my favorite part of the entire meal. Even though its a comp bread, it was warm and fluffy on the inside and crusty on the outside. The olive oil dip had some type of pesto (maybe?) in it but whatever it was it was good and garlicky. I will most likely come back on a return trip to Hot Springs to try other menu items. The friendly staff make up for a lackluster dining experience.

We are there for a friend's birthday party. The food was good, and the staff were friendly. It was a little pricey though, but a friend of ours was paying so hard to complain. The atmosphere was a little odd as well. I'm not sure if it's fully worth the money, but it was an ok treat.

We ate here in February 2012 while we were staying at Hot Springs. The food was good (nothing unique or special though) within good price range. The service was really great. We used 50% discount deal coupon, but the server (Mary) and manager, I think (Neil) gave us a sincere apology and another discount because the order was messed up somehow. We will definitely come back whenever we are in the area.

This place is located adjacent to the La Quinta. I hear if you show them your la quinta card, you get 10% off. But I'm not sure. I forgot mine. I would recommend ordering the pick 4 appetizer. This is large enough to easily replace an entree. We chose Avocado Rolls. I'd give this dish a 6/10. Then the fried Mac and cheese balls. This gets a 7/10. We also got the Monkey Nachos. This gets an 8/10. And then we also got the sweet corn tamale. This only gets a 4/10. For an entree we split the Bon Bon Chicken and Shrimp. This dish consisted of chicken and shrimp simmered in a coconut curry with fresh veggies such as peas and carrots. There was not enough rice to accompany the large amount of curry sauce. The bread and basil oil was subpar. The bread is okay for a slicing bread...but its not designed for dipping oil. A better oil is always plain evoo. The dessert menu didn't look that impressive so we didn't order nothing.

If you like dry over cooked food this is the place for you. Oh and they couldn't even get chips salsa and queso right either. The queso tasted like flower, the salsa was old, and the chips were stale. I give them a point for atmosphere.

YUK! I ordered the herb crusted salmon salad and it was the WORST salmon salad ever. You can tell they had the hard as a rock salmon piece sitting out all day, maybe even yesterday because I had to use a knife to cut into it and the whole outside was translucent. The lettuce was wilted. The server seemed nice at first, but you could tell she was only interested in turning tables because she kept asking us if we were done while we had the fork in hand in the plate while chewing food. Do not recommend this place. Maybe having it 50 below where everyone was freezing cold helped turn those tables. WIll not go back.

We went there not too hungry the fist night so had appetizers and a salad. Food was all excellent. Tried to find a place to go the next night but none as good as this place. We went back and was very happy we did. I had the Shrimp Scampi witch was excellent and my hubby had the NY Strip and had Blue Cheese Crumbles on it and it was really good he said. OUr service both nights was great. Very friendly Southern girls. We love this place and are very sorry there isn't any in Missouri.

The food was pretty good. My husband got the ribeye which was nice and tender. The cheese dip with blue chips was very good. I ordered the Blue Monkey Shrimp. It had a good flavor, but it was a little too spicy for my taste. The chocolate creme brûlée was awesome. The service was awesome.

Skip this! My family & I tried the Bleu Monkey yesterday, July 30, 2013, for dinner. The service was S-L-O-W. Our nachos appetizer came out one minute before our entrees. The food was just "ok." Then, it took around twenty minutes after we finished eating to get our checks. The restaurant was not busy, so definitely don't go if they are. You'll be there all night!

Went here for dinner for my birthday. The waiter was friendly and accommodating. The avocado rolls were delicious. I had the Thai pasta with peanut sauce. It was very tasty. Came with bean sprouts, which I'm not crazy about, but was good when mixed with the pasta. The peanut sauce covered the taste. All in all, a good meal.

Stopped in during the day for an early dinner. The fish tacos were pretty good. I didn't understand getting sour cream and guac sides however on my plate and they can keep the rice and beans. The cheese dip was good, salsa a bit too hot. I liked the break and oil/basil they brought out before we got our food. Hard to get a real handle on what kind of place this is. Basically a bar, chain looking place but the menu is all over the place. I'd eat there again

Can we talk about the perfect place to eat in Hot Springs? Cause this is it. It's very small, and located so closely to a hotel most people pass it by. I did for years thinking it was another annoying chain restaurant. But it's not! It's awesome! Complimentary bread and oil, for starters. All of their apps are original. I like the tomato and avocado rolls. They have a full bar. Their drinks are dressed to impress. I ordered a bloody Mary there once and they put pickes, olives, and a large celery stick to garnish. I won't recommend a specific meal. Everything is great. They have burgers, sandwiches, salads, seafoods, and all kinds of specialties. Stuff yourself!

Staying at the hotel next door(10% discount if you show your room key), I got more than a few chances to try this place more than once. I never ate the same thing twice and was pleasantly surprised almost every time. The prices are definitely more than fair for the food you're getting. Out of everything I had, the best was probably the pasta carbonara. I think people talked up the bleu monkey shrimp a little more than they should've, but I thought it was still really good. The only thing I didn't enjoy quite as much was the top sirloin. It lacked flavor in my opinion. The loaded mashed potatos and caesar salad I got with it made up for the lack of flavor with the steak though. The wait staff was always friendly and attentive. I will be working in the region in a couple of weeks and definitely plan on returning.

Went late on a Tuesday night. Service was friendly and very helpful. Food was delicious. We were in party of 6, no problems. Had everything from appetizers to sandwiches and steaks. Reasonably priced will definitely eat there again next time we are in town!

Best food I've eaten in Hot Springs. The night before i ate at the Bleu Monkey, i had a salmon pasta dish, a garden salad, an iced tea, and a chocolate cake from another place in town and it was almost 50 dollars. I don't mind paying a lot of money for really good food, but those dishes were not that great. Contrast that with the food i had from Bleu Monkey which was the luau salmon, tamale cakes, cabo chicken tacos, fried plantains and fresh bread for a little more than 30 bucks. Let's see...better food, less money...i'm happy. Seriously, though, i would pay a lot more for bleu monkey's food...that luau salmon was one of the best dishes i've had all year. The pineapple sauce was sooo good. The cabo tacos are on corn tortillas (a must for me) and come with all the right toppings and black (yes!) beans. Service was so friendly. Every server i passed made me feel welcome but it was never intrusive or annoying. If you are in hot springs, you have to eat here.

This place is a wanna-be Chili's. The only good thing was the complimentary bread and olive oil. Nobody was impressed with their burgers, pasta or salads. We were desperate because few places were opened on new years day. BTW, beer should always be served in a cold glass - even Chili's knows that. ugh

We went to Hot Springs, Arkansas for this year's family vacation and had a wonderful time. The Bleu Monkey Grill had decent marks from most of the internet review sites so we decided to have dinner there. Meh. The parking lot was packed in the afternoon. Usually a very good sign. Once inside, the place was only half full. Most of the cars belonged to guests at the hotel adjacent to the restaurant. The music was loud enough my eight year old had to shout his order to the waitress. The wait staff did very well up until my wife sent her plate back, then they disappeared (more later). I had not read the reviews (my wife likes to do the research) and the first thing I said about the menu was it was too varied and scattered. Usually a bad sign. I had the Bon Bon Chicken and Shrimp, my wife the California Fish Tacos, and my son had a burger off the kid menu. We had the Calamari appetizer and it was cooked adequately. Because they served it in one big pile on a too small plate, the bottom calamari breading was soft and mushy. The Bon Bon Chicken was okay. The coconut flavor came through and the shrimp was just a little over done. They should have undercooked it slightly and let the heat from the dish and sauce finish it off. I asked for noodles instead of rice to try something different and was expecting something like a heavy lo-mien type noodle instead of the angel hair pasta. My fault for not asking. However, the dish was served tepid so no wins there. The California Fish Tacos were cold. The rice was cold and beans were cold. I mean like room temperature with heavy air conditioning cold, so my wife sent it back. My son and I both finished our meals before her food was returned. Around twenty to twenty five minutes. Let's be real. The beans and rice are probably kept in a warming bin and the only the cooked item (the tilapia) is grilled fish filleted very thin and placed in a tortilla with toppings. It would on need to be cooked a minute on each side at best. Assuming they tossed the old dish and remade it, that is excessively long. The second time they brought it out, it was piping hot. The coleslaw was still a fail by being just shredded cabbage and no sauce. My son got the win because his burger was huge and well cooked. The fries were serviceable but he's a kid and devoured them because, well, they were fries. Overall, we will not be returning. From where we sat, I could see right into the kitchen every time the doors opened. I could see that the wait staff was finishing the dishes with sauces etc. They were having a grand time chatting and just slopping stuff on plates haphazardly. That explained other inconsistencies I saw on other tables. IT also probably explains the coleslaw minus any kind of dressing.

I got the chicken tacos and my fiancé got a meal with shrimp, chicken, and plantains in a yummy sauce. Both of ours were AMAZING! Not your typical bar/grill food. It tastes like upscale expensive restaurant food. The flavor is unexpected. Will definitely go back if I'm in town again!

In the privacy of my home, I am rubbing the last piece of fresh baked bread in the corners of a Styrofoam to-go container wishing there was more sauce! Finally, I've had a flavor-full meal in Hot Springs, AR, with my Mother (she had fish and chips). Intrigued by the eclectic printed menu from Bleu Monkey Grill, and having it on my list of places to check out, why did I wait so long to find a place I'd visit again? OK, the wine list doesn't match the inventive flavors on the menu: 3 brand choices of wine, lots of beer, and a full bar. That disconnect between the wine and flavors can be fixed. Let me talk to the bartender and the manager. Make it a no-brainer: list the wine choice beside the menu item. List a cocktail, too. So on to the first taste.... 'Would you like some bread?' Sure, OK. What arrived was totally unexpected. Missing were the yeast rolls and good/bad cornbread muffins with butter/fake butter. In it's place was a cutting board and a warm mini round loaf with a flat dish of green-tinted herb and garlic infused oil. Uhunh? Crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. Could I have some more of that, please? Looking over the menu, with bread crumbs all over the table (and not caring), my dilemma was what to choose first. I was ready for the Cuban sandwich , but I could have one of the entrees. I decided on one of their specialties: Bleu Monkey Shrimp because of the big combination of flavors. The sauce is Picapeppa. Served with spicy black beans, steamed white rice (you know: Moors and Christians), and mango salsa. And some fried plantains. Like a dozen shrimp, and I'm not usually a shrimp fan, but these were good and hot. They would be good cold too. See above. BTW: the plate was hot, too. Next time I want to go at night and see if the vibe is different. Sit at the bar, have some apps, and talk to the bartender about the wine. Real soon. All I want is some decent food and a good glass of wine! Now I know where....

Great food, great drinks, great service, decent prices. I'm honestly never disappointed eating here, and that's saying something. The Razorback Burger is one of the best burgers I've had, cheese dip and salsa are both excellent, and their drinks (and ultra-cold beer taps) are worth it. Plus, good TV selection in the bar area.

My wife and I love this place!! It is a must when we go to Hot Springs, which is uasually a couple of times a month. Great menu with a lot of different things to choose from, no matter what you like to eat. I've never got anything that i didnt like, and I'm a pretty picky eater. This is the place I always choose for my birthday dinner!!

This looked like a typical Chilli's/Appleby's/Shorty Smalls type chain so I didn't expect much. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. To start, the service was excellent. We called ahead and let them know we were coming with a party of 14 and they had a table all ready for us when we got there. And not in the back by the bathrooms either, right out front. The wait staff was on the the ball and we were never in want of anything for very long; it seemed like everyone pitched in to help with the big table. It took a while to get the food; I guess because we had a big table and they were trying to get everything out at one time. They took good care of us while we waited and everything did come out all together and nothing was cold that shouldn't have been. And everyone's order was correct. I totally did not expect that because something's always off with a table that size; it wouldn't have been a big deal because we expected it. But noooo. 100% accuracy. The food was excellent. Everyone got something different and we all shared; it was easy because the portions were huge. The kids got mac and cheese balls. They could have easily been a rubbery horrid mess that only a kid could love, but they were actually very good. Nice textures and flavor. The Baja Chicken was juicy and delicious. The Bon Bon Chicken and Shrimp was creamy and spicy; I don't generally go for the pad thia, but the creamy texture and slight spice with a heavy hand on the peanut flavor were awesome. The Mauhi Salad was everything a salad lover loves about salad: crisp and fresh veg, sweetness and acidic tang at the same time, aromatic, with some nut and carb crunch thrown in for contrast. I was afraid the ribeye, "marinated for 36 hours" according to the menu, would be way over-seasoned after that much marinating and you wouldn't get the good meat flavor you want when you order a ribeye. My fears were unfounded. It was seasoned perfectly and all its beefy goodness came through; also, the cook hit my wife's "medium" right on the money. There was much more, but I'll stop here and say that everyone at the table was impressed, satisfied, and happy. UPDATE, 4 months later My wife and I went back again. We planned a trip to Hot Springs for our anniversary weekend getaway specifically so we could come to Bleu Monkey Grill. Everything was just as good. Interestingly, our Bon-Bon Chicken & Shrimp and ribeye were a bit different from the first time we were there. The texture of the Bon-Bon wasn't quite as creamy or peanutty, but it was slightly more on the savory/spicy side. The ribeye wasn't seasoned quite as densely as it was the first time but it did have a little more of the char flavor you want on a grilled piece of meat. The differences were unexpected, but considering the food on its own merits and not comparing to the first visit it was still really, really good. And the portions! Geez. I thought they were big last time, but this time caught me taking a break from an on-going diet. I was even less equipped to handle the size of this stuff. Gettin' old sucks. But Bleu Monkey don't!

This restuarant has a varied menu, and some very creative dishes. It's comfortable, but not too noisy or raucous. There isn't much on the menu for picky eaters though, that is my only issue with Blue Monkey Grill.

Well the food was good, but the service was awful when I went. Three drinks never showed up. When we asked for a bag for the food, he stacked all the plates on top of each other and instead of wrapping them up, he threw them away. Hope you don't get our waiter, Mario.

Overall it was just average for me. Atmosphere was nice and it seemed really clean. The food wasn't bad, just ok. We had the spinach dip (nothing special) and the eggplant grilled sandwich (I'm not so sure it was eggplant because it tasted pretty rubbery more like mushroom but the fries were pretty awesome) and the fish tacos which I was told were good (I didn't personally eat them).

This was a nice local restaurant - it was very busy but the menu was so wonderful I could see why it was busy. The service was very friendly and fast. I had the Spicy Southwest Chicken Pasta - it was terrrific. My husband had the chicken & bisquits and wished he had my spicy pasta. Overall - great place to dine.

Although I am reviewing under the category "restaurant," I have not actually dined at the Bleu Monkey Grill. The food looks wonderful, but I wanted to speak to the matter of the bar and overall Bleu Monkey experience. I highly recommend visiting the Bleu Monkey after dark so that you can enjoy the full effect of the blue lights, both inside and out. The decor, right down to the parking signage, is fun yet sophisticated. The designer/decorator for this place did it right. We didn't monkey around once inside, we went straight to the bar and ordered (what else?) a banana mango daiquiri. Don't let our choice fool you. This is not a "for girls only" drink. Even Tarzan would like this thirst-quencher. It is packed with plenty of alcohol and is the perfect drink for a hot, humid night. And if you are lucky enough to be served by Laura, the best bartender ever, the experience is even more perfect. BTW-they give a 10% discount on food to guests at either of the hotels next door, both just steps away. Call it Jungle Love if you must, but we fell head over heels for the Bleu Monkey Grill.
